Labelbrand of Max Havelaar
GEDI supplies in addition to their standardproducts also Fairtradeproducts with the labelbrand of Max Havelaar. We sell Fairtrade roses which comes from special farms where they take care of the welfare of employees. They are fairly treated and most of the time there is medical care on the farms. Also, money is invested in football teams and other social activities.
Minimum wage
The Fairtrade-certified companies pay minimum wage and provide safe jobs with strict oversight of safety and health. Importers pay for Fairtrade flowers, a surcharge of ten percent of the purchase price. This premium will be financed by a multitude of projects, including the creation of water filtration or the construction of educational projects for children and staff. The difference with other companies who sell products under the name of Fairtrade is that the staff get paid a premium. This premium does not disappear in the pockets of other people, but actually goes to the hardworking staff. Also, the rules on the farms are tightened to the health of workers rights.
